Energy Calculation
- Measure-Correlate-Predict Methods: Case Studies and Software Implementation.
The need for an efficient MCP toolbox has now been met by implementation of four different MCP methods into the WindPRO software tool for planning and projecting of wind farms. The four MCP methods vary in complexity, computational requirements and applicability – as such – the analyses presented in the paper are supported by two case studies for illustrating these subjects. An outline of the theoretical background of the WindPRO implementation of the MCP methods: Linear Regression, Matrix MCP, Weibull Scale and Wind Index MCP are provided as well as recommendation on where to use the various methods. The paper was presented during the EWEA 2007 conference in Milan, Italy. - CFD, WAsP & WindPRO: 20 case studies for predicting and verifying wind farm energy production This report describes 20 case studies performed during 2000–2002 with financial support from the Danish Ministry of Energy- and Environment. Each case includes a detailed report which is available from by following the link above. Not only WAsP have been used for calculating the wind resource; but also a a CFD-code through the newly developed WindPRO / WindSim interface (CFD=Computational Fluid Dynamics). Please refer to the case 02a Torrild - WindSim (here - pdf) for further details. A description of the WindSim PRE/POST interface is found (here). The project was presented during the World Wind Energy Conference and Exhibition 2002. Read a preprint of the paper submitted to the conference proceedings (here - pdf).
