Hotfix 4 released for Version 2.5

A new hotfix 4 for WindPRO version 2.5 has just been released. We recommend all users of this software version to install it.

Please download the hotfix from the following link:

http://www.emd.dk/download/WindPRO250Hotfix4.EXE

The following corrections and improvements are included in the hotfix:

ERROR CORRECTIONS:

  • RESOURCE Calculation based on WTG areas could miss edge points
  • eGRID could only make transformation to lower voltage levels
  • Error in shape file import introduced in hot fix 3
  • ESRI Shape file reading (GIS): Erroneous reading height contours fixed (a problem introduced with an earlier build of this hotfix).
  • IT maps, color problem on new IT maps
  • UMBRA reports are now selected as default
  • Terrain Profile. Problem with false "No TIN available" error message fixed
  • UMBRA ZVI was not used in some cases.

IMPROVEMENTS:

  • Extreme Wind Speed Estimation: A WindPRO report has been added to this tool.
  • METEO Object: Detailed WindPRO reporting of IEC 61400-1 (ed. 2 and ed. 3) characteristic turbulence intensities is now available. Go to the Setup of the METEO Object to select which IEC code to use.
  • Reading ESRI Shape Files (GIS): Support of more dbase database file formats. Also Nordic characters are now supported within the database fields.
  • Line Object: Support for gridded height data in Surfer and ArcGIS grid format (.grd and .asc file extensions). Data must be in ASCII format.
  • eGRID: Taking apparent power of loads into account, calculating aimed capacity
  • eGRID: Now updates To/From fields of cable editor "on the fly", thus preventing circular connections
  • eGRID: Now updates length and aimed capacity fields in cable-editor when to/from fields are changed
  • eGRID: Simplified eGRID table, to eliminate problems and speed up program (removed drop-downs)
  • eGRID: Added double-click events to eGRID table, to ease the access to the cable/object editor
  • eGRID: Now shows the Cable-editor when a cable is automatically created from a transformer to a WTG
  • eGRID: Added new Short Circuit Power criteria for the cable cross-section calculation
  • eGRID: Updates all cables and transformers after closing the eGRID data editor
  • eGRID: Checking/Un-checking cables is updated in cable-table
  • Photomontage: Faster "Surface as validation" and grid surface rendering
  • Photomontage: Problems with "holes" in grid surface near camera fixed
  • DATA: Enabled import of Grid data from Surfer and Arc GIS format.
  • Area roughness data can now be imported in *.grd format from http://www.dataforwind.com/
  • New WAsP dll with capacity of 1.000.000 points in map file
  • Swiss and Estonian coordinate system added
  • Elliptical distance "circles" on WTGs added
  • Background map quality in report setup

MCP Module

The MCP module has almost finalized the beta-testing phase and will be released officially within the next few weeks after thorough testing for more than three months by a test group of WindPRO users.

MCP is the abbreviation for Measure-Correlate-Predict techniques, which is widely in use for establishing a long-term wind statistic using limited wind data from the local site and long-term data from a more-or-less nearby site.

The task of any estimation of a long-term wind statistic is to establish a transfer model between the available short-term local data and the concurrent data from a long-term reference data set.

The MCP module has been designed, so the user can perform calculations based on the most common MCP methods. The user is able to choose between the following four MCP methods: Linear Regression, Matrix, Wiebull Scale and Wind Index. This enables the user to make fast and efficient comparison between several methods and to use different reference data sets, which provides a unique input for the evaluation of the uncertainty of the long-term correction.

The MCP module also gives access to an EMD on-line server where the user can download NCEP/NCAR reanalysis data sets from the period 1948 until now in a grid resolution of 2.5 degree (longitude/latitude). These data sets, which consist of wind speed and direction for every 6 hours, temperature and heat flux, are easily imported into a Meteo object.

The result from the MCP analysis is typically a wind statistic generated with WAsP based on a terrain description and the long-term corrected site data. The data can be used directly for WAsP PARK calculations or wind resource map calculations. For non-WAsP use (or further analyses) the long-term corrected site data can be written back to an auto-generated Meteo object.

The report generator offers printed reports giving full documentation of the MCP calculation. Two reports are available, a generalized overview report and a detailed report for each MCP method used.

The MCP module is available for ordering already now. The price for a 1-user license is Euro 1,250 / USD 1,500.
