Background for "Lynetten Project".
EMD present this project example, an example of a wind energy project which has the purpose to inspire project developers and to show how different types of projecting “problems” is handled in WindPRO. During the years there will then be a huge data bank with experience of how to solve different types of problems. All projects can be downloaded with all data needed for trying out own ideas and testing own capabilities with the WindPRO software. Ideal for case studies and training sessions.
Lynetten
Figure 1: Lynetten seen from Øresund, flight view from east. Photo by BONUS Energy A/S.
Special characteristics:
- Semi offshore, where sea-traffic marks has to be taken into account.
- Large city very close and in the main wind direction.
- Many large harbour buildings (Obstacles) close and in main wind direction.
- Placed in a "technical landscape".
Demonstrations:
- Energy calculation based on Wind Atlas method - Roughness in this case described with use of AREA-object in WindPRO – Comparison with actual wind corrected energy production.
- Noise and flicker calculation.
- Visualization (comparing “real” and rendered picture).
This project has many interesting features both for calculation and in the organization and realization of the project. These are described in the study “Vindmøller ved tekniske anlæg” (Windturbines in technical environments), which was conducted 1999 – 2000 by Green Globe, Birk-Nielsens Tegnestue, and EMD. The complete study can be downloaded as a .pdf file (in Danish but with an English abstract) - high quality (23 MB) or low quality (571 KB)
An export file for WindPRO with the project of the month has been prepared and can be downloaded here. Please note that you need WindPRO to be able to open this file.
Project and site:
Lynetten windfarm consists of 7 Bonus 600 kW wind turbines with a hub height of 50 m. They are placed on a dyke in Copenhagen Harbour near a sewage plant and other industrial facilities. The wind farm is visible from large parts of Copenhagen, a city with more than a million inhabitants. Figure 1 shows the wind farm on a bright day with the inner city of Copenhagen in the background.
The map in figure 2a shows the position in Denmark of the wind turbines marked as a blue star, and Figure 2b shows their position on a more detailed map as blue stars signifying them as "existing turbines".
